Facility Description

Classroom training will held at 9430 State Road, Philadelphia PA 19114. This is a large classroom where students will be completing the first portion of their program. Students will have access to computers at this facility. Video training and lectures will be provided in the classroom.

Practical training will be held at 8501 Hegerman St. Philadelphia, PA 19136. This is an open facility, 10 acres of lot available for driver training range. The distance from the classroom and the driving range is 1.9 miles.

Educational Objectives for The CDL Class A Course (entry-level CDL Class A Driver):

CDL Class A Program: Drivers will be taught instructions and practical for 220 total clock hours. 70 hours will be classroom lessons. Driving lessons on driving range, streets and highways will amount to 150 hours.
This program will take 8 weeks to complete.
Students will understand the importance of the trucking industry, regulations, procedures.
Students will have basic understanding of the name, location and functions of the vehicles controls and systems.
Student will be able to recognize malfunctions, perform visual searching, identify proper speed management in regards to night driving, extreme driving conditions, and skid control.
Students will be proficient in railroad crossings, emergency maneuvers, accident procedures, cargo handling and documentation, trip planning.
Students will complete the hands-on training to be proficient in the following: pre-trip inspection, under the hood inspection, cabin inspection, air brake test, parallel parking, straight line backing, offset backing, alley-dock backing, unhook and hook the combination vehicle, tandem slide for weight distribution, shifting- up-hill and down-hill maneuvering, driving on streets and highways, rail-road crossing, height and weight restrictions, and emergency stopping.
